How to Record Your Screen on an iPhone or iPad
Your iPhone and iPad include a built-in screen recording tool that’s perfect for tutorials, classroom demos, walkthroughs, or quick how-to videos. Once enabled, it takes just seconds to start recording — no extra apps required.

⚙️ Enabling Screen Recording
Before you can record your screen, you need to enable the feature.
Open Settings
Go to Control Center
Tap Customize Controls
Add Screen Recording
Once added, the Screen Recording button becomes available in Control Center.
📱 Starting a Screen Recording
To begin recording:
Open Control Center
Swipe down from the top-right on newer devices
Swipe up from the bottom on older iPhones
Tap the Screen Recording button
Wait for the countdown to finish
Your screen is now being recorded. A red indicator confirms recording is active.
🎙️ Recording Audio with Your Screen
By default, screen recordings do not include microphone audio.
To enable audio:
Open Control Center
Press and hold the Screen Recording button
Turn Microphone on
Tap anywhere to close Control Center
This is essential if you’re explaining something verbally.
⏹️ Stopping and Finding Your Recording
To stop recording:
Tap the red recording indicator
Choose Stop
Your video is automatically saved to the Photos app, where you can:
Play it back
Trim it
Share it via email, messages, or cloud storage
