📸 Waialohe Park | Peaceful Stop Along the Road to Hana

📝 My Story:

Tucked along the winding journey of the Road to Hana, Waialohe Park was a peaceful and much-needed stop for us to stretch our legs, catch our breath, and admire the coastline.

This small, scenic park offers two vastly different moods depending on which side you look — one side with calm, serene waters framed by palm trees, and the other side with dramatic, crashing waves against rugged lava rocks at the nearby Ke‘anae Lookout.

It’s not a long stop, but it’s a perfect one. A great place for a bathroom break, a picnic, or just a few deep breaths before tackling the next stretch of tight turns and one-lane bridges!

Pack a small cooler with snacks before starting the Road to Hana — stops like Waialohe Park are perfect places to pull over, take a break, and refuel!

📸 Photography Tip:

Use a wide-angle lens to capture the contrasting scenes on either side of the park — calm waters on one side, wild surf on the other.

Morning light offers great reflections, while afternoon light emphasizes the textures of the lava rocks.

🎉 Fun Fact:

The nearby village of Ke‘anae is famous for its taro fields, which have been farmed by native Hawaiians for generations. Taro is the key ingredient in poi, a staple of traditional Hawaiian diets!
