Our Chicago Adventure

On to another adventure.

This time, no kids—well, at least no kids under the age of 33.

And what better place to explore than Chicago?

I’ll tell you what: It’s really nice having a built-in tour guide who knows so much about the city.

I think I can speak on behalf of my other brothers when I say thank you for always showing us a good time and not losing any of us—especially My Friend and me.

In honor of the Feld January birthdays, the four of us set out on a cold night through the windy streets of downtown Chicago.

We ate amazing food. We drank amazing drinks—at least I did.

My brothers seemed to enjoy something resembling gasoline mixed with lacquer thinner, served in a fancy gold cup.

But whatever floats their boat.

A few things I learned that night:

  1. When someone who lives in the city says a bar is only four blocks away, he really means it’s about two miles.

  2. My brothers don’t do well in the cold. The 20-degree weather seemed pretty warm compared with the minus-20 temperatures I’m used to in Minnesota. They would never survive where I live.

  3. The older I get, the more I appreciate time spent with my brothers. Who would have thought that only 15 years earlier, we would have been fighting over who was eating whose ice cream? Now look at us.

All in all, the night was a success.

The next morning, I dragged Eric around the city to photograph landmarks and such. Even though our fingertips turned white, our noses were red, and our toes lost all feeling, I think it’s safe to assume we’ll have another adventure together soon.

We may wait until it’s about 50 degrees warmer, though.

Thank you, Nick, for another adventure in the city. You never cease to amaze me with what you know.

Perhaps becoming a Chicago tour guide is your next calling.

Here are just a handful of pictures.

Enjoy!
