What are you searching for?
At some point in life, you may have asked yourself:
What do I want out of life?
What am I searching for?
What do I truly want?
You may even feel lost.
I have no doubt that many of us share these questions. For some of us, the answers may not be clear yet.
And that’s okay.
I certainly don’t have all the answers, but here’s what I do know—and what I can speak to personally:
I’d trade all the money in the world for time spent with people who make me smile and laugh.
I’d choose long walks down less-traveled paths with people who know me well over sitting inside and watching the latest overhyped Netflix series.
I’d choose a life filled with countless small opportunities for joy and adventure over a one-time lottery payout.
Maybe we need to begin asking different questions.
What makes you happy?
What makes you smile?
Whom do you enjoy spending time with?
What sparks that inner flame and drives you to become a better person?
What imprint do you want to leave behind after you’re gone?
In the grand scheme of life, people, relationships, and the experiences we create are far more important to me.
You know you’re in the company of great friends and people you love when you can simply be in their presence, let your guard down, and be yourself.
It’s an amazing feeling.
Even better, when you share common interests, life goals, and strong values, time seems to stand still as the moments together become even more enjoyable.
If you find yourself asking the same questions, here’s what I recommend:
Go outside.
Do something that scares you.
Travel with the intention of getting lost.
Find a place on a map you’ve never visited and simply explore.
Invite someone you care about—or go on your own.
The world is a beautiful place, and we should all experience it. You simply have to take the first step toward discovering it.
That weekend, I took a little adventure to Willow River State Park to see the waterfall.
I couldn’t have asked for a better day: beautiful 75-degree weather, clear skies, no mosquitoes, rushing water, laughing children, and families enjoying time together.
Below are a handful of photographs from the beautiful falls.
Off to find the next one!
